Appeal Procedure Rules and Regulations

Please Note: Effective January 2004 there is a $25.00 filing fee per parcel for residential/vacant land appeal and $50.00 per parcel for each improved or vacant commercial or industrial parcel which is appealed. 

 

 
TIME FOR FILING: The deadline for filing an annual appeal is August 1st of any taxing year. Any appeal filed by that date will be scheduled before the Board of Assessment Appeals. The final decision on assessed value will go into effect for the following assessment and taxing year. Any appeal notice received after the filing date, whether or not the same was mailed prior thereto, will be rejected as untimely for that appeal period.
 
Also, any property owner who receives an assessment change notice because of an interim increase, land splits, joinder deeds or because buildings have been removed has forty (40) days from the date of the notice to file an appeal with the Assessment Office.

 

PLACE FOR FILING: An appeal notice from the assessment of real estate shall be filed with the Assessment Office, First Floor, Monroe County Administrative Center , 1 Quaker Plaza, Room 102, Stroudsburg Pennsylvania, 18360-2171 . Appeals may be filed by mail subject to limitations set forth in Rule 1. Appeals may also be filed in person at the Monroe County Assessment Office, First Floor, Room 102, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., prevailing time.
