Hazard Mitigation Plan
Monroe County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan has been prepared in response to FEMA requirements and to enable the County and its municipalities to reduce risks, effectively respond to hazards as they occur and to be eligible for the full range of assistance following hazard events.
The plan was prepared by the Monroe County Planning Commission and the Office of Emergency Services with assistance provided by FEMA, PEMA and the Mitigation Planning Committee which included representatives from the municipalities, Monroe County Conservation District, PENNDOT and other local agencies. The plan continues the format established in developing the County’s Comprehensive Plan – that of having broad participation in the development of the document and subsequent endorsement upon completion. The County has been recognized several times for its cooperative efforts and public participation in planning activities and this pattern will continue.
