Cooperating Agencies
- PennDOT - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
PennDOT is a key player in the success of the Litter Control & Beautification Program of Monroe County. PennDOT assists in many ways, such as: providing safety support, "Litter Crew" signs, safety vests, bags and gloves for volunteers; removing and disposing of filled bags after clean-ups; providing seeds and plantings for beautification efforts on public lands; funding for Litter Brigade Program; assistance on wildcat dumpsite clean-ups; and the administration of the Adopt-A- Highway and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Programs.
The consent of the County Courts has made possible the achievements of the Probation Youth Litter Program, the Intermediate Punishment Program, and the ARD program in litter control efforts as community service.
- Monroe County Corrections
The Warden of the MCCF is a leader in cooperative efforts between agencies. By agreeing to the Intermediate Punishment Program, inmates have shorter sentences and require less MCCF manpower to supervise. In return, the community benefits from the work they do on area highways.
The Probation Department cooperates in several programs to help clean and beautify Monroe County roadways, using probationers who serve community service hours. See more details on the page "Litter Control Programs."
The Sheriff's Office is the driving force behind the Intermediate Punishment Program (Outmate Litter Program). The cooperation of Sheriff Martin, and the commitment of his Deputies have made this program a resounding success.
